Um... where do I work?

Today, my phone rang. Nobody calls me on my office phone except my mom, because most of the office stuff takes place over email and IM, and everyone else contacts me on my cell. However, the name on the caller ID was someone I didn't know. Our receptionist was laid off about a month ago, but I'm sure we'd had other calls between now and then, so I had no idea figure out why this stranger had come to me.

I picked up the receiver, pushed the extension, and out of my mouth pops "Digital Dra... um, I mean, uh, Accela; this is Megan. How may I help you?" I heared my nearby coworkers crack up, and the guy on the phone started laughing too. He had dialed the wrong extension. I was pretty excited to learn I still know how to transfer a call without hanging up on the caller. Before I transferred him, the guy told me I'd made his whole day! Then my coworkers and I laughed about it for about 10 minutes.

I had somehow flipped to auto-pilot and started saying the name of the last company I worked for. After all, I took about 50 calls a day while there. Though I worked at DDN for 3 1/2 years, I've been here for almost two. The worst was that once I realized my mistake it took me a minute to remember the right company name! Old habits die hard, I guess. Sheesh.

Oh, Megan. You are such a silly.

Happy Weekend Everyone! I know I'm looking forward to it!
