After a great deal of planning, shopping, and other preparing, my friends and I on our ward's Activities committee managed to pull off a nicely organized campout for between 70-100 people. There were few injuries (mostly cooking-related), everyone had plenty to eat, and in spite of an unauthorized map that caused more than a few to get seriously lost, I think we all had a good time. We had a really fun group and the campsite was beautiful. I hadn't been camping in about 5 years, and I forgot how much I enjoy it!
This is what my refrigerator looked like when I removed the camp food. Guess it's time to go shopping again... |
A tent (and sleeping bag and pad) loaned to me by my dear, scouting legend father. |
My tentmates, who graciously insisted on putting up said tent while I helped prepare dinner and put up signs to identify the campsite. They did a great job and were lovely, kind, quiet companions :-) |
One happy surprise was the realization that I know quite a few people, and better yet, I like many of them, too! |
The campfire chatter is always my favorite part of camping. |
Cynthia and I showing off the healthy fire... what in the world? Where's the fire?! Okay, we're just looking silly, then. |

Breakfast in the morning, next to the wonderfully welcome fire. It was a chilly, chilly morning!!! |
Doesn't this look ideal? I didn't mind sacrificing a few creature comforts to sleep in such an idyllic spot! |
My friends and I were pretty stressed trying to put the whole thing together. We are grateful that it is over and that it was a success. Now we don't need to worry about planning another for at least 9 more months. Yay!
On to the next activity... whatever that is...

Great job on coordinating the campout, sis! Looks like a good group, and that Cynthia looks like a fun friend :)
Thanks, Aaron. She is! I love being on the committee with her!
