A Leap Day post

Four years ago today, I opened Little Women with the Midvale Arts Council.

It's kind of amazing to me how much that one play changed me, how close I still am with friends I made during that play, how much I have grown since then, and how much is still the same. Four years ago, my Little Women sisters were all still single, my best friend first saw her husband (at a performance!), I was 29 and played a 15 year old, I got my first negative review and a billion positive ones, I was living at my parents' house, I learned that directors won't mind me standing up for my character and that playing the "villain" can be fun, I went on my first cruise, and I had my first and last pizza benders at Italian Village (maybe not my very last, but I haven't been there since; it wouldn't feel right without the rest of the cast).
We really loved each other like family. Cheesy, but true!
Now two of my sisters are married (one even has a gorgeous baby), my best friend is married to Professor Baehr, I have my own place, I've played many more dream roles including another villain, and been on other cruises and vacations. Oh, and I started this blog four years ago in June. What a different four years makes!

Kinda makes me wonder if I'll remember four years from now that today I worked a long day, then cancelled my evening plans because of the snow and went home to do relaxing "home" things like make dinner and watch a movie.

Probably not. I'll probably just remember that eight years previous I had done Little Women! But it will be fun to see what ELSE changes between now and then for this particular group of people!
"Sometimes when you dream, your dreams come true!"
(I'm fifth from the left, wearing the black wig and
strip of fabric over my eye. Best costume ever.)
Meanwhile, this was my favorite Facebook post today regarding Leap Day:
Jill D -- Okay all you ladies out there..... It's Leap Day! As old Irish tradition states, on Leap Day a woman may propose marriage to a man and if he refuses her he must compensate by purchasing her either a silk dress, fabric for a skirt, or 12 pairs of gloves (depending on the country you are from). So ladies go get yourself a man or a new dress! Either way it's a win, win :)
I didn't get a chance to try it, but it sure made me laugh!

Happy Leap Day, my friends. Hope the next four years bring you more good luck and blessings than you could ever imagine!

It is amazing how much difference four years can make! :) It's neat that you keep in touch with your fellow cast members, and how much growth you can receive from something that you love so much!! The FB post made me laugh too! I'd never heard that before! And I hope that the next four years bring YOU more good luck and blessings than you could ever imagine!! Then again, you're pretty good at making your own "luck"! :)

Megan-Did you know I was there with Kate that night? I totally forgot that you were in that show. I am not even sure if we had even met yet at that point. Crazy--It's amazing what four years bring.
