Every winter I resolve to cut my hair "next fall."
It's so long that anytime I put on a scarf, or coat, or even my seatbelt, I have to pull my hair through, and with the dry, dry air that accompanies December, January and February here in Utah, every time I pull I feel my hair go rigid with static. By the end of the season, my hair is so brittle and damaged by that blasted static that I wish I had followed through to cut it to my chin in November and avoided all the sadness and trouble.
I wish it again this year already.
Except... my hair is my best feature. I love it long! It takes forever to grow and even though it looks cute short, it doesn't look cute in between long and short. And I don't especially like wearing it in a bun (which would protect the ends better) because I don't think it's flattering frame for my face. I do use some wonderful products, but they can only do so much. I try to keep up maintenance and trim it every 6 weeks or so, but it's the tradeoff of having long, lovely locks that I'm never going to have perfectly healthy, non-split ends.
I may have to swallow my pride and bun it anyway for regular days and only let my hair down (haha!) on special occasions.
Plenty of time to feel pretty later.
BTW, does anyone else think it's silly that while so many men enjoy long hair on their girlfriends/wives and discourage them from changing it, those same men also complain that it takes women too long to get ready to go anywhere? Does anyone else see the connection here?

I may be crazy, but I just love to be able to see a girl's face well. Hence, I actually like when girls cut their hair short or "bun it" as you say.
So, though most men may like it otherwise, I say just do what you want. :)
Bryant likes long hair and panics everytime I mention cutting it. I don't get it since I just wear it in a ponytail or bun 90% of the time.
Ultimately, you have to do what makes you feel most confident:-)
I have had more than one boyfriend tell me that my hair is beautiful, but it gets in the way. Two of them have told me to chop it. No thanks:-) I love my long, blonde strands of gold too!
I guess I'm one of the lucky girls who's guy doesn't care much what I do with my hair. He loves it long, but also likes it short.
I hate the static of winter hair, too. I always have that problem when my hair is long in the winter. That's part of the reason I just chopped it all off (again) two days ago.
Just one more thing: I think it's ridiculous when I hear women say: "I would love to cut my hair short, but my husband won't let me, because he likes it long." I actually had someone tell me this exact thing last night. It's your hair, for crying out loud, do what you want with it!
